I signed up for the first round of the PHYSICIAN CEO™ program and then backed out due to family commitments. Its hard to justify any additional time away from family and the practice. If you factor in all the meetings we go to any additional time can be a burden to the family. After careful consideration I signed up for the second round and nearly backed out of that as well. I just don’t like anything that takes me away from my family more than I already am away. Its a hard thing for me.
I headed off to my first module with a little bit of regret knowing the cost to my practice and honestly all the sacrifice my wife was making to let me go. The module was fantastic. I returned to the practice with a renewed understanding of leadership and the direction that I wanted my practice to go. I immediately saw the areas that I had neglected from a leadership standpoint. My entire staff saw the difference. I had regained the sense of purpose that drove me to start my own practice. I had unknowingly over several years slowly relinquished leadership to others. There were hard discussions with staff, personnel changes made, and a refocus of the entire practice as I took back my position of leadership. That was just the first module. It changed everything. After a few weeks my wife actually asked me when I was going back.
The modules to follow were just as transformative for me personally as well as for the practice. My accountant told me at our last meeting that he was a little nervous because now I speak his language. The PHYSICIAN CEO™ program has transformed and refocused everything I do in my practice. It has given me the confidence to dream big again and look for areas to expand. I enjoy my work more and enjoy the business side of my practice like I never have before.
